We are deeply saddened by the loss of the 6 divers during the tragic sinking of the DSV Koosha. Dhirendra Kadiyan, Parminder Kadiyan, Ajesh Guar, NK Sharma, Rajesh Dabaas and Jagtar Singh will all be greatly missed by those who knew them in the diving industry and we would also like to express our deepest condolences to their friends and families.
For those who read our blog and aren’t aware of the accident, as far as we understand it, Dive Support Vessel Koosha was sunk in extremely stormy weather off the coast of Iran last Thursday afternoon.
60 of the 73 people on the vessel were rescued on Thursday by naval and civilian boats. Of the 13 unable to be rescued, 6 were divers who were in the saturation chamber on deck at the time the vessel sank.
There was hope that the chamber may have been pressurised at the time of sinking, therefore the divers would have been safe inside the chamber on the ocean floor, investigations showed that it was not and the divers were unable to be rescued.
Occasions such as this are extremely rare, and nothing that the divers could have done could have prevented such a tragedy. All of the men on DSV Koosha were experienced, well trained, safe and competent divers.
If you wish to make a donation to the families of the divers lost on DSV Koosha you can do so by emailing muina.tan@kreuzsubsea.com or lin.ying@kreuzsubsea.com.
Once again, our deepest sympathies go to the friends and families of Dhirendra, Parminder, Ajesh, NK, Rajesh, Jagtar and the other crew who were lost on this tragic day.
